The whole thing about passive voice is a pet peeve of mine. Beyond many people not understanding what it means, I’ve always been curious about why it isn’t liked. (For example, my previous sentence would sound odd in the active voice). My personal view is that instead of using passive voice less, you should instead use it appropriately. “I was born in 1981" will always sound better than, “In 1981, my mother bore me.”
